KinTable Privacy Policy

BEST Labs LLC ("we," "us," "our") built KinTable to help families plan and enjoy meals together. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Scope and Where KinTable Is Offered

KinTable is offered to and intended for users located in the United States. We do not direct KinTable to, or intend it for, users in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or other regions outside the United States. If you access KinTable from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

This policy applies to the KinTable mobile app and any related services that link to it.

2. Information We Collect

When you use KinTable, we may collect:

Account Information

Email address used to sign in
Authentication tokens and session data

Household Profile

Household name
Number of adults and children in your household
Generic household member labels (Adult 1, Child 1, etc.) used to track member-specific dietary needs. KinTable does not ask for or store family member names or nicknames
Cooking skill level and effort preferences
Weekly meal budget

Food Preferences and Dietary Data

Foods to avoid (dislikes, sensitivities)
Dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.)
Member-specific food restrictions and allergies
Cuisine preferences
Nutrition settings (low-carb, high-protein, etc.)

Kitchen Setup

Available cooking equipment (oven, grill, pellet grill, etc.)
Optional kitchen tools (Instant Pot, air fryer, etc.)

Meal Planning Data

Generated meal plans
Meal ratings, favorites, and history
Saved and custom recipes
Grocery lists

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Generate personalized meal plans and recipes using AI
Store and sync your household profile across devices
Display your grocery lists and meal history
Remember your preferences to improve future suggestions
Operate and improve the KinTable app

4. AI Provider Processing

KinTable uses OpenAI to generate meal plans and recipes. When you generate a meal plan, we send a structured prompt to OpenAI's API that may include:

Generic household member labels (e.g., "Household member 1"), not real member names
Dietary needs, foods to avoid, allergies, and spice preferences for each household member
Household dietary restrictions and foods to avoid (household-wide)
Cooking skill level, budget style, and available equipment
Preferred cuisines and nutrition settings
Titles of recently shown meals, household favorites, and user-selected meal history

KinTable does not ask for or store your family members' names or nicknames. To track member-specific dietary needs, KinTable uses generic household member labels, such as Adult 1 or Child 1, rather than personal names.

We minimize identifying household details before sending meal-planning context to our AI provider. We do not intentionally send your household name, member names or nicknames, internal member IDs, account password, or payment information to OpenAI. Data sent to OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy and data use policies. We do not control how OpenAI handles, retains, or uses data it receives.

5. Data Storage and Sync

Your data is stored and synced using Supabase, a third-party backend provider. Supabase stores data in databases subject to Supabase's own security and privacy practices. Your household data is associated with your account and is shared with household members you have invited through KinTable's household sharing feature.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or targeted advertising purposes. We may share data with:

Supabase: for data storage and sync
OpenAI: for AI meal plan and recipe generation (see Section 4 for details)
Service providers who help us operate the app, subject to confidentiality obligations
As required by law: for example, to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or others

7. Household Sharing

If you create or join a household in KinTable, your household profile data, including preferences, restrictions, and meal plans, is visible to all members of that household. Be thoughtful about the information you add when sharing a household.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active.

You can delete your account directly within the KinTable app at any time (in the app's account settings). When you delete your account, we delete your personal data from our active systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain limited records to comply with a legal obligation or to resolve disputes. Backups containing your data are overwritten on our regular backup cycle.

You may also contact us at the address in Section 13 if you need help deleting your account or data.

9. Children and Parental Use

KinTable is designed for and directed to parents, guardians, and adult household managers. It is not directed to children, and it is not intended for children to create accounts or use independently.

KinTable does not ask for or store the names of children in your household. Member-specific dietary needs for children are tracked using generic labels (such as Child 1) that you, the adult account holder, enter and control.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without parental consent, please contact us at the address in Section 13 and we will delete it.

10. Your Choices and Rights

You can view, edit, or delete your household profile data within the app at any time.
You can delete your account and associated data directly within the app (see Section 8).
You cannot opt out of data processing that is required to operate the core features of the app, such as generating meal plans.

Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. You can exercise these rights using the in-app tools described above or by contacting us at the address in Section 13. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

11. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including access controls and encryption in transit. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of KinTable after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
